Today I did a chair yoga class for lupus or arthritis at the Gulfport lupus seminar. Here’s a clip from the class where I discussed the benefits of yoga in general and what yoga has to offer yogis with rheumatic conditions. I gave examples such as how yoga helps overcome drug side effects by improving digestion and building bone density and helps you learn to manage your pain in a more philosophical way.
Here’s another clip showing us doing some standing chair yoga for lupus or for any other time the assist of a chair is needed. These poses are great for building balance or confidence.
This was a free event put on by the Lupus Foundation of Florida and a partnership with the Sonia Plotnick Healthcare Fund. I’m looking forward to being able to coordinate on more of these events in the future.
