Favorite Inspirational Yoga Quotes 2016

If you’ve come to my classes, you know I like to share a sutra every month as a classs theme.  I also regularly do readings of poetry or perhaps a quote from a famous author. Here’s a recap of some of my favorite inspirational yoga quotes from 2016:

“Man does not simply exist but always decides what his existence will be, what he will become the next moment.  By the same token, every human being has the freedom to change at any instant.”  - Viktor Frankl

“Acknowledging abundance we recognize the blessings in everything and gain insights into the purpose for our worldly existence.” - Sutra 3.29

“Keep your sense of humor about your mistakes.  But don’t repeat them.”  - Paulo Coelho

“The longest lived and those who will die soonest lose the same thing.  The present is all that they can give up, since that is all you have, and what you do not have, you cannot lose.” - Marcus Aurelius

“The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire, the size of your dream, and how you handle disappointment along the way.”  - Robert Kiyoski

“I am only one, but I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.  And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can.”  Edward Everett Hale

“For relationships, too, must be like islands.  One must accept them for what they are here and now, within their limits-islands, surrounded and interupted by the sea, continually visited and abandoned by the tides.  One must accept the security of the winged life, of ebb and flow, of intermittency.” - Anne Morrow Lindbergh

“Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?  Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” - Mary Oliver

I’m looking forward to 2017 and some new literary inspiration.  Have a safe New Year’s everyone and I hope to see you in class in the coming year!

Sutra 2.39 - Acknowledging Abundance

The sutra I shared for September, sutra 2.39, focused on practicing with gratitude. “Acknowledging abundance (aparigraha) we recognize the blessings in everything and gain insights into the purpose for our worldly existence.” Sutra 2.39 translation by Nischala Joy Devi, The Secret Power of Yoga   I appreciated the expansion of the concept of gratitude compared… Continue Reading
